JEMA supplies 3 systems of 3 MW DC which will feed plasma torches. This achievement, dedicated to the end-customer Metallo Chimique NV, in Beerse, close to Antwerp, was purchased from Swedish Scanarc Plasma Technologies AB company, acting in Reverse Metallurgy sector. This process will lead to improve the recycling of different metal and decrease metal import. See the presentation movie…

JEMA is honoured by the venue of Ion Beam Applications CEO, Mr Olivier Legrain and the Vice-President Supply Chain, Mr Jean-Louis Guelton.

JEMA supplies a DC power supply (2000A – 160 V – 20 ppm stability) for the main coil of one of the two cyclotrons of GANIL (Le Grand Accélérateur National d’Ions Lourds) in Caen - France.

Sumitomo Heavy Industry release new orders for DC power supplies. These regular orders of high performance equipment show the high reliability of JEMA power supplies in the Japanese market.

JEMA is honoured by the venue of Walloon Exportation Agency CEO, Mrs Pascale Delcominette.

JEMA establishes a new record in sales intake in the protontherapy sector in 2015. The modular system ‘Mosaic’ is dedicated to the supply of beamlines, made of dipoles and quadrupoles and is totally adaptive to the magnets various characteristics. See here the new Mosaic technical datasheet…

The cathodic protection sector intake reaches a record in 2015, which reinforce the dominant position in the regulated power supplies, installed in Belgium and abroad for many years.

JEMA supplies several power installations for the glass group AGC, giving them the possibility to pilot with ultimate precision their metal deposition process. First designed for the Belgian processes, they are now exported also to the Head Japanese production lines.

Brussels airport trusts once again JEMA for their high quality battery chargers which is installed in all power substation of the airport.

A long road from transformers to high performance DC power supplies

Founded in 1937 in Brussels (Belgium) the company JEMA first specialised in the production of coil-based products such as transformers and resistors. JEMA then turned very quickly to specific coil-based products fully adapted for the particular needs of its clients.

With time and the evolution of electrical components, JEMA evolved towards the production of electric cables with complex topologies based on its coil-based products.  From then on, production has been directed towards rectifiers, inverters and even battery chargers. Finally, thanks to its growing mastery of electromagnetism and associated technology, JEMA has specialised in power electronics intended principally for direct current applications.

The end of the 70s marks an important turning point in the company's history. It was at this time the JEMA studied, developed and supplied the various power supplies required by the particle accelerator in the Centre de Recherche du Cyclotron at the Université Catholique de Louvain-la-Neuve (CRC-UCL). From that moment on, JEMA has definitively specialised in the development of high performance power supplies.

In 1990, JEMA relocated to the Louvain-la-Neuve science park. This move allowed it to be close to centres of excellence like the faculty of applied sciences and the CRC and thus to breathe new life into the development of its high performance products. It also allowed JEMA to move closer to one of its principal clients, a global leader in the development of particle accelerators and proton therapy systems.

Currently, activities linked to high performance power supplies represent 75% of JEMAs revenues.  Power supplies produced under the name JEMA or JEMA ELEC are installed in numerous research centres, medical institutions and leading industrial companies around the world.

In 2008, the Belgian private equity company JEMA declared its desire to reposition itself internationally as a major player in the field of high performance DC power supplies. To this end, its team of experienced engineers has been given a boost with new resources which contribute daily to the improvement of its systems, the development of new products and the expansion of JEMAs range of services.
